“Rwanda cannot tolerate the drugs that are destroying our future; we’re taking tough measures today to prepare a secure and brighter tomorrow.” Minister Kaboneka stated during his separate meetings with Burera District Leadership and staff, citizens, members of district advisory council and district opinion leaders.
The Minister of Local Government Hon. Kaboneka Francis from 11th of October 2018, held two-day working field visit in Burera to meet different categories of people with the intent of discussing together measures to accelerate the development and tackle the existing challenges.
Minister Kaboneka reminded the leadership, advisory council and the staff that their primary mandate is to serve the citizens with commitment and transparency. He requested for their togetherness to prevent the drugs that continue to ravage not only youth but also the rest of community members. He called for more efforts to collaboratively prevent and eradicate the use of illicit drugs qualified as development hindrance in their communities.
“The government of Rwanda is trying to set every infrastructure needed for development, its’ now your turn to get ready for exploitation of all those existing opportunities. You need to work together as one team not only to sustain our achievements and move on but also to curb the challenges.” Minister added.
The opinion leaders were called upon to work together with the district leadership to develop the district by solving together the problems and investing in different income generating business and infrastructure.
“Commitment is all that matters; our country has resolved plenty of issues that seemed insolvable without money, but our commitment proved the difference.”
In the afternoon of the first day, Minister Kaboneka visited the residents of Butaro Sector to interact with them on different matters regarding their socio-economic development. On behalf of the President of the Republic of Rwanda, he expressed gratitude for their contribution to national development through different activities mainly agriculture as the region produces potatoes to the national markets.
The resident presented their complaints to the minister as in return he solved them together with district officials.
